Simulation of biomass gasification in bubbling fluidized bed reactor using aspen plus®

The direct (with air) gasification process of biomass in bubbling fluidized bed reactor was simulated using Aspen Plus®. divided three parts: the pyrolysis zone, combustion zone and reduction zone. simulation supported by an external MS-Excel® subroutine to define yield composition main components, namely, char, gas tar. Whereas processes were a kinetic model. These models calibrated thereafter validated with set distinct results from four different types pilot-scale reactor, equivalence ratio (from 0.17 0.35) temperature 709 °C 859 °C). obtained simulation, namely concentration CO, CO2, H2, CH4, C2H4 producer gas, good agreement experimental ones for operating conditions. Amongst gases analysed, H2 predicted lowest accuracy, always being overestimated; despite that, highest absolute error only 4.4%. Finally, tar between 20 42 g/Nm3 it decreased increase ratio, particle size.
